RIP John Hurt aka Kane from Alien and The Elephant Man dies at 77.

What sad fu*king news to get on a Friday night… Or any night for that matter. Well, there is no beating around the bush and the article headline and thumbnail already told you anyway, so I guess right out with it, huh? John Hurt, whom I personally love for his role as Kane in ALIEN, has passed at the age of 77. Very sad. Very true.

To give a little extra history on John Hurt and his films, Hurt received an Academy Award nomination for MIDNIGHT EXPRESS and was also known for playing Mr. Ollivander in the HARRY POTTER films, but possibly his most famous role was that of John Merrick in David Lynch’s THE ELEPHANT MAN. But whatever film you know him for, he will be sourly missed by us all.

John Vincent Hurt was born Jan. 22, 1940, in Chesterfield, Derbyshire, England. Hurt made his film debut in THE WILD AND THE WILLING, and his role as baron Richard Rich in Oscar best picture winner A MAN FOR ALL SEASONS made him well-known in the U.S.

Hurt also starred as Trevor “Broom” Bruttenholm in HELLBOY and HELLBOY II: THE GOLDEN ARMY. Other credits include THE OSTERMAN WEEKEND, V FOR VENDETTA, and INDIANA JONES AND THE KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL.

Hurt was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II in July 2015.

Farewell, Kane. The picture I used as the header on this article was called "Kane Birth." RIP.
