Looks like my man Depp is keeping with the populist tentpole fare…

As if having a half-dozen giant, franchise-potential projects in the works isn’t enough, Big John Depp has, in partnership with GK Films, bought the rights to underwater sci-fi comic THE VAULT. No word if Depp will star, but he’ll certainly produce the flick(s) through his Infinitum Nihil production company.

Written by Sam Sarkar, the underwater sci-fi story centers on a group of divers who, off the coast of Nov Scotia, uncover a sarcophagus with unusual remains and inadvertently unleash an ancient evil.

Nice! A foully decayed corpse unleashing a deadly spirit. Underwater! If done well, what’s not to like about that?!?

THE VAULT is a three part miniseries issue. The first edition hits newsstands this week.

The Deppster can be next be seen THE RUM DIARY, which I cannot be more excited for. In that film Depp plays a young journalist, a character featured in Hunter S. Thompson’s first fiction novel. The Depp-Hunter connection continues!
