Johnny Depp open to Disney reunion?

There may be hope after all for Johnny Depp to reunite with Disney, as a source says he is open to the “right project.”

Now that Johnny Depp has come out victorious in his trial against Amber Heard, received a standing ovation at the Cannes Film Festival and announced he’ll return to directing duties for the first time in over 25 years, the actor has come out on the other end of his controversies covered in a treasure chest of gold. But if he really wants to regain the wide fandom he once had, Johnny Depp may have to set sail with Disney again after their potentially franchise-ending feud. As it turns out, this might be closer than ever to happening.

A source close to Depp told People, “Anything is possible…If it’s the right project, he’ll do it.” Now, admittedly that is vague, but it does offer a glimmer of hope to get Johnny Depp back with Disney, who had a falling out after the abuse allegations from ex-wife Amber Heard. Last year, Depp said of the handling of the situation by the House of Mouse, “There was a very deep and distinct feeling of having been betrayed by the people that I had been working with, the people I had worked hard for, people I had delivered a character to that they initially despised.” He also said that he wouldn’t take another job from them if they offered him $300 million and one million alpacas. He, too, would later point to a certain disregard for Hollywood overall, saying, “I don’t feel boycotted by Hollywood because I don’t think about Hollywood. I don’t have much further need for Hollywood myself.” The question is, will Johnny Depp backtrack?

Producer Jerry Bruckheimer is also pulling for Johnny Depp to make amends with Disney in order to reprise Captain Jack Sparrow and get the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise back on the high seas and into theaters. Combined, the five movies – The Curse of the Black Pearl, Dead Man’s Chest, At World’s End, On Stranger Tides, and Dead Men Tell No Tales – have grossed over $4.5 billion worldwide, which, according to our team of mathematicians, is equivalent to 15 million alpacas.

Do you want to see Johnny Depp reunite with Disney in the future? Other than another Pirates of the Caribbean installment, what would you want to see him do? Let us know!
