Now that we know David Slade is setting sail on THE LAST VOYAGE OF DEMETER, the man is calling all hands to deck. The first big fish hooked? Mr. Jude Law!

That’s right y’all, according to Bleeding Cool, Jude Law has just boarded THE LAST VOYAGE OF DEMETER. No word if he’ll play Dracula himself or a lead protagonist, but the English actor is definitely in negotiations to play a role. If he signs on, he’ll join Noomi Rapace and possibly Sir Ben Kingsley, who’s also in talks to participate.

If you’ve forgotten, Demeter was the name of the ship that transported Dracula from Transylvania to London in Bram Stoker’s classic tale. In that novel, it washes up on the shores of England, tattered and broken, with one raving mad survivor. THE LAST VOYAGE OF THE DEMETER places the voyage center stage in a tale that is reminiscent of the first movie in the Alien franchise, in which a crew is slaughtered one-by-one by a mysterious passenger.

THE LAST VOYAGE OF DEMETER hits land sometime next year.

Law’s HUGO CABRET co-star, Emily Mortimer!
