Julie Delpy and Ethan Hawke may reunite with Richard Linklater for whatever comes after Before Sunset

One of my movie obsessions is the story of BEFORE SUNRISE and BEFORE SUNSET. I could watch both of those back to back a million times in one day. There’s something about the relationship between Celine (Julie Delpy) and Jesse (Ethan Hawke) that keeps me interested in their on-going conversations throughout both movies.

The nine year mark is nearing from when SUNSET was made. So is it time to find out what happened in Celine’s apartment after the movie ends? It’s possible according to Hawke, “Well, I don’t know what we’re going to do but I know the three of us have been talking a lot in the last six months. All of three of us have been having similar feelings that we’re ready to revisit those characters. There’s nine years between the first two movies and, if we made the film next summer, it would be nine years again so we’re really started thinking that would be a good thing to do. We’re going to try write it this year.”

While I could live with the ending to SUNSET for the rest of my life, I would be interested in seeing what fate has in store for my favorite uncouple. Maybe another long conversation set in the states? Celine could come to visit Jesse. I wonder what Jesse said to his wife when he got home. There’s a million possibilities. Life is swell like that.
