We told you about this flick back in November when it was under it’s original title ROAD TRAIN (relive the magic HERE), a horror flick from the land down under about a killer semi truck in the middle of the Australian outback. Today we have a slightly revised trailer than what we caught back then, plus… a brand new title!
The flick’s now known as ROAD KILL, and thank Zeus for that, because there’s not a train in sight in this whole effin’ movie, so ROAD TRAIN really makes no sense at all. But ROAD KILL? That makes total sense!
The official synopsis goes something like this: Four young friends on a camping adventure in outback Australia are run off the road by an erratically driven road train – a massive three-trailer truck. With their own vehicle wrecked, and the road train stopped, the friends march off to remonstrate with the drivers. But mysteriously, there is no one to be found. Suddenly, the silence is broken by the sound of gunshots. A distant figure in the bush screams and runs towards them. Have they become witnesses to a murder? There’s no time to discuss it. The friends commandeer the road train. The next town is only three hours away. But the next town is somewhere they will never reach. And what they discover inside the vehicle’s trailers proves more terrifying than anything out there on that lonely road.
Think of this as if JOY RIDE, JOY RIDE 2, DUEL, CHRISTINE, and MAXIMUM OVERDRIVE all got together in one crazy sex orgy and had a kid. The result of that little bastard would be ROAD KILL. And you know what? I can dig it, yo! I think semi truck’s are pretty scary, especially ones that can drive themselves.
Directed by Dean Francis and starring Xavier Samuel, Sophie Lowe (below), and Bob Morley, the flick is still looking for distribution (thinking STD here, but I could be wrong), and as soon as we hear anything, you’ll be the first to know. In the meantime, enjoy the new trailer below!
