Kate Beckinsale returns to the Underworld series in this very blue trailer

Last Updated on July 31, 2021

The next installment in the blockbuster franchise, UNDERWORLD: BLOOD WARS follows Vampire death dealer, Selene (Kate Beckinsale) as she fends off brutal attacks from both the Lycan clan and the Vampire faction that betrayed her. With her only allies, David (Theo James) and his father Thomas (Charles Dance), she must stop the eternal war between Lycans and Vampires, even if it means she has to make the ultimate sacrifice. I’m thinking the ultimate sacrifice means another installment in this saga, but check out the trailer below and judge for yourself!

The first two movies struck me as a kind of “TV popcorn entertainment”, although I can’t say I’ve given the series another thought after that. This, like the RESIDENT EVIL series, seems to be recycling the same movie over and over again. Both have featured hot female leads with insanely lucky husband directors. Maybe they should just combine the two at this point and save us from having to ignore another film?

UNDERWORLD: BLOOD WARS is being dumped into theaters on January 6, 2017.
