Battlestar Galactica star Katee Sackhoff is no stranger to horror – over the course of her career she has faced such terrors as Michael Myers (HALLOWEEN: RESURRECTION), ghosts (WHITE NOISE 2: THE LIGHT, THE HAUNTING IN CONNECTICUT 2: GHOSTS OF GEORGIA), and a possessed mirror (OCULUS). This weekend she can be seen going to battle with a child-eating witch in the VOD release DON'T KNOCK TWICE, and while genre fans give that film a look Sackhoff is already gearing up to return to the genre with the sci-fi thriller ORIGIN UNKNOWN.

To be directed by award-nominated visual effects artist Hasraf "HaZ" Dullul from a screenplay by Gary Hall (based on a story concocted by Dullul), ORIGIN UNKNOWN has the following synopsis:

After the first manned mission to Mars ends in a deadly crash, mission controller Mackenzie ‘Mack’ Wilson (Sackhoff) is summoned to assist an artificial intelligence system – A.R.T.I Their investigation uncovers a mysterious object under the surface of Mars, leading to a discovery that could change the future of our planet as we know it.

Territory Studio (THE MARTIAN, GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY, BLADE RUNNER 2049, ALIEN: COVENANT) will be handling special effects duties on the film.

Financed by Head Gear Films and Parkgate Entertainment, ORIGIN UNKNOWN is being executive produced by Tom Clark and Eduardo Panizzo of Coffee & Cigarettes, alongside Head Gear's Phil Hunt and Compton Ross.

ORIGIN UNKNOWN is scheduled to begin filming in London this month.
