THE BOX

Realizing a lot of fans have lost hope that his upcoming psychological horror drama THE BOX will ever actually be released, Richard Kelly recently posted an update over on his MySpace blog about the status of the film. Here are a few highlights:

WB is releasing the film on October 30, 2009. The release date has been shuffling around a bit, but this is common with studios, and everyone feels like this is the best date for the film.

The running time is 1 hour 55 minutes long including end credits.

There is more than 300 visual effects shots, which required eight months of post-production. The digital work-flow of the Genesis (camera) was essential to completing these visual effects properly.

Whoa nelly, that’s a hell of a lot of visual effects shots for a story about a suburban couple played by James Marsden and Cameron Diaz who are given a mysterious box able to grant them a wish but with the caveat that should they choose to use it, someone somewhere will die. In any case, read the rest of the update over HERE. As the big guy mentioned, the film will be released October 30th.
