Kevin Costner in talks to join Jessica Chastain in Molly’s Game

Although Aaron Sorkin has been very active in the world of Hollywood for decades, the upcoming MOLLY'S GAME will actually be the first time he's stepped behind the camera to direct a feature-film, and he's assembling quite the stellar cast for his directorial debut. Jessica Chastain will star in MOLLY'S GAME as Molly Bloom and now Deadline reports that Kevin Costner is currently in talks to join the project as well. It's not a done deal just yet, but should these talks be successful, Costner would play Bloom's father.

The film, which will be based on Molly Bloom’s memoir "Molly's Game", takes place in the world of high-stakes poker and chronicles the true story of how Molly Bloom, a former world-class skier who, after failing to make the Olympics, took a year off prior to law school and eventually ran a high-stakes poker game for the elite of Hollywood for eight years before the FBI brought her down. The players involved in her games included "Hollywood royalty, sports stars, business titans and finally, unbeknownst to her, the Russian mob." Idris Elba also stars as her only ally, a criminal defense lawyer who "learns that there’s much more to Molly than the tabloids lead us to believe." In addition to Chastain, Costner and Elba, Michael Cera has also been in talks to join the film as Player X, an elite celebrity player who develops a unique relationship with Bloom.

Production on MOLLY'S GAME, which Aaron Sorkin is also scripting, is due to kick off next month.
