Kevin Smith teases the return of Stan Lee and Michael Rooker for Mallrats 2

It was about this time last week that Kevin Smith confirmed that he is writing MALLRATS 2. It's a film that won't see the light of day (if ever) until after CLERKS III, HIT SOMEBODY, and MOOSE JAWS are in the can, but it's there. While Jay and Silent Bob seem like a given as far as returning characters go, it looks like those aren't the only supporting characters that will be found in the mall once again. Earlier today, Smith posted a picture on his Facebook showcasing Stan the Man, Michael Rooker, and Jason Mewes.

Kevin Smith on the above picture:

We goin' back to the MALL, ya'll! Stan Lee, Jay and Silent Bob and Michael Rooker are making a number 2. Talking about in this picture, not the movie. I'm aiming for the movie to be good. (This pic was taken yesterday, as all four of us gathered to shoot a really adorable Stan-centric spot for Audi that you'll see online as we get closer to the release of Marvel's AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON.

While nothing's set in stone as far as MALLRATS 2 goes, Smith generally keeps a good working relationship with his actors and these guys seem to be down for more mall madness. Rooker's character was certainly nothing special in the original, but the man has made a name for himself being a lovable hardass in projects like The Walking Dead and GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY, so he's a welcome return. A MALLRATS sequel is so unnecessary, and that's probably the reason I'm looking forward to it. Now where's Jason Lee?!?

Kevin Smiths' next feature, YOGA HOSERS, will be released on June 1, 2015.
