Kevin Smith updates on Hit Somebody, now one big film with Sundance debut

It’s just past noon and we already have our second Twitter-sourced story of the day. Not content to late Kanye West have all the fun, Kevin Smith was answering questions on Twitter this morning and updated the status of his next (and last?) film HIT SOMEBODY.

Though the project was recently discussed as being two films, Smith has scrapped that idea saying, “now gonna make one big movie instead.” Of the decision he says, “Makes more sense, anyway: the movie’s about taking one, good shot.”

The film, based on the Warren Zevon song of the same name, follows a kid who makes it into the NHL and becomes known for being a bruiser. But his dream is to score one goal.

Smith is currently writing the second part of the script now but expects the movie to be at most 150 minutes. His plan is to begin shooting the film this June with a premiere at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival.

While no casting is official, the film looks to be starring his RED STATE boys Nicholas Braun, Kyle Gallner and Michael Angarano, with John Goodman starring as the hockey coach.
