BFFs Nicole Kidman and Naomi Watts have signed on to star in NEED, an upcoming thriller from director Ryan Murphy (RUNNING WITH SCISSORS). The pair will play adversaries fighting for the affection of one man. Watts will play a psychaitrist whose unstable patient (Kidman) falls for her husband. The film is based on the novel by Lawrence David. Murphy is continuing with his duties as showrunner on FX’s “Nip/Tuck” and will shoot NEED this fall while on break. While it’s not the first time Australian friends Kidman and Watts have shared the screen (see 1991’s FLIRTING), it would be the first time since both became A-list actresses. The duo have been looking to find a project to work together on for some time and eventually settled on NEED after meeting with Murphy. Kidman, who was recently injured while filming reshoots for INVASION, is about to star work on AUSTRALIA with Hugh Jackman and Watts has the thriller FUNNY GAMES due later this year.
