KISS meets Ash in Army of Darkness comic book crossover

Army of Darkness Bruce Campbell

EVIL DEAD franchise hero Ash Williams has crossed paths will sorts of fellow pop culture icons in the pages of Dynamite Entertainment's Army of Darkness comics, including RE-ANIMATOR Herbert West, Marvel Zombies, DARKMAN himself, Xena, Danger Girl, the characters of Hack/Slash, and Vampirella. When plans for a FREDDY VS. JASON VS. ASH movie fell through, the treatment for that film was even given a comic book mini-series adaptation. So when a new Army of Darkness crossover event is announced, it's never a surprise – but that doesn't make these announcements any less cool.

The latest awesome crossover will have Ash teaming up with the members of the legendary rock 'n' roll band KISS in the pages of a series appropriately titled KISS/Army of Darkness

The series will tell the following story:

KISS is on top of the world and rocking faces until the night disciples of The Destroyer show up and the band disappears. With the tour canceled, a young Ash misses one of the most important events of his life that will change his destiny. Now the Chosen One has to get back on the right path and join the KISS ARMY OF DARKNESS!

The series is being written by Chad Bowers and Chris Sims (writers of the current Ash vs. the Army of Darkness series), with Ruairi Coleman providing the illustration.

As Dynamite CEO and publisher Nick Barrucci says,

The raging guitar chords and pyrotechnic spectacle of (the KISS) stage shows could have come straight from the pages of the Necronomicon, and this epic battle between The Demon and Deadites will appeal to the hellions in all of us!"

There will be multiple cover variants available for the debut issue of KISS/Army of Darkness, featuring the art of Kyle Strahm, Goni Montes, and Ken Haeser. These covers can be seen below. There will also be a limited edition variant in black and white and virgin art formats available as retailer incentives for comic shops that achieve the stocking thresholds.

KISS/Army of Darkness #1 hits store shelves in February of 2018 and will also be available for purchase through Comixology, Kindle, iBooks, Google Play, Dynamite Digital, iVerse, Madefire, and Dark Horse Digital.
