Kong: Skull Island gets new Japanese and IMAX posters

One month. That's all we have left to wait before one of cinema's most iconic creatures will be making his hopefully triumphant return to the big screen. Director Jordan Vogt-Roberts' KONG: SKULL ISLAND will be in theatres one month from today, on March 10th.

We've shared a lot of SKULL ISLAND promotional materials – banners, TV spots, a look at the tie-in toys, etc. – but one of the posters shared below is one of the coolest SKULL ISLAND promos yet. Created for the film's release in Japan, this poster focuses heavily on the kaiju element of the film and features Kong towering over several of the other giant monsters he shares the titular island with. It is a truly excellent piece of art.

Also below is a new IMAX poster for KONG: SKULL ISLAND. A lot of the marketing for the film centers on the "Kong vs. military" aspect of the story, and this poster is no different, offering yet another image of Kong being approached by helicopters. I much prefer the previous IMAX poster, which put a giant ape twist on the APOCALYPSE NOW poster.

Scripted by Max Borenstein, John Gatins, Dan Gilroy, and Derek Connolly, KONG: SKULL ISLAND shares a "MonsterVerse" with 2014's GODZILLA and tells the story of

a diverse team of explorers who are brought together to venture deep into an uncharted island in the Pacific – as beautiful as it is treacherous – unaware that they’re crossing into the domain of the mythic Kong.

Tom Hiddleston, Samuel L. Jackson, Brie Larson, John Goodman, John C. Reilly, Tian Jing, Corey Hawkins, Jason Mitchell, John Ortiz, Thomas Mann, Shea Whigham, Toby Kebbell, and Eugene Cordero star.
