The closer we get to the March 10th release of director Jordan Vogt-Robert's KONG: SKULL ISLAND, the more hyped I get for it. This is one of the most highly anticipated movies of 2017 for me, and I can't wait to see the iconic Kong rampaging across the screen once more – thankfully not in yet another retelling of the original KING KONG story.

Scripted by Max Borenstein, John Gatins, Dan Gilroy, and Derek Connolly, KONG: SKULL ISLAND is set in the 1970s and follows

a diverse team of explorers who are brought together to venture deep into an uncharted island in the Pacific – as beautiful as it is treacherous – unaware that they’re crossing into the domain of the mythic Kong.

Tom Hiddleston, Samuel L. Jackson, Brie Larson, John Goodman, John C. Reilly, Tian Jing, Corey Hawkins, Jason Mitchell, John Ortiz, Thomas Mann, Shea Whigham, Toby Kebbell, and Eugene Cordero star in the film, which is set in the same universe as the 2014 GODZILLA film. In fact, after the Godzilla sequel GODZILLA: KING OF MONSTERS is released in 2019, the Kong introduced in KONG: SKULL ISLAND will be facing off with his fellow monster in 2020's GODZILLA VS. KONG. Obviously they have a disagreement over who the King truly is.

Sporting the tagline "All Hail the King" are two new banners that have been released for KONG: SKULL ISLAND, both of which can be seen below. One offers the familiar sight of Kong cozying up to a human female (Larson in this case), while the other puts a helicopter in a frightening situation.

KONG: SKULL ISLAND will be playing out on theatre screens in less than two months. The movie has been rated PG-13 for intense sequences of sci-fi violence and action, and for brief strong language.
