Krampus screenwriters set to tackle Godzilla 2

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

We have some time to go yet before KONG: SKULL ISLAND hits theaters, and even more time before GODZILLA 2 is up on the silver screen, but that’s not stopping Legendary Pictures from planning ahead. Variety reports that Legendary is looking to hire Michael Dougherty & Zach Shields (KRAMPUS) to pen the sequel to the Gareth Edwards picture. No word yet on whether or not Doughery might direct the film (as he did with KRAMPUS).

Furthermore, it looks as though Legendary might be setting up a writers room in order to craft a more cohesive GODZILLA/KONG universe down the road. God knows everyone else is setting up their own movie universe, so why not with giant monsters? SKULL ISLAND looks to be, for the most part, a stand-alone adventure, so I’m guessing that we won’t start seeing some real crossover goodies until GODZILLA 2, at the very least. Obviously this will all culminate in KONG V GODZILLA: DAWN OF WE’RE ALL F*CKED (title pending) in May 29, 2020. Where they take it from there is anyone’s guess.

GODZILLA 2 is scheduled to hit theaters on March 22, 2019.
