Kyle Chandler to play Millie Bobby Brown’s dad in Godzilla 2

Kyle Chandler was an actor I was always aware of on the periphery, I would occasionally see him here and there but I didn't watch any of the TV shows he had a prominent role on. It wasn't until he turned up as the father of a young child in a giant monster movie that he really caught my attention. That movie was SUPER 8, and I thought Chandler was awesome in it. So I'm glad to hear he'll be playing the father of a young child in another giant monster movie.

Chandler has just signed on to star in the sequel to 2014's GODZILLA, GODZILLA: KING OF THE MONSTERS, where he'll be playing the father of previously announced cast member Millie Bobby Brown, who was one of the breakout stars of 2016 thanks to her role in the Netflix series Stranger Things.

These GODZILLA movies inhabit the same MonsterVerse as the upcoming KONG: SKULL ISLAND, their releases building up to the big crossover event GODZILLA VS. KONG in 2020. Coincidentally, Chandler has experience with Kong, too. He was in Peter Jackson's 2005 KING KONG remake (which is not part of this MonsterVerse).

GODZILLA 2014 stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Elizabeth Olsen are not expected to return for GODZILLA: KING OF THE MONSTERS, but there is a chance that their co-star Ken Watanabe could show up in the sequel.

Details on the sequel's plot are being kept under wraps; all we know is that TRICK 'R TREAT's Michael Dougherty will be directing the film from a screenplay he wrote with his KRAMPUS co-writer Zach Shields.

GODZILLA: KING OF THE MONSTERS will stomp into theatres on March 22, 2019. Still over two years left to wait for this one.
