Last Night in Soho clip: Diana Rigg, Thomasin McKenzie share a scene

Diana Rigg passed away in September of 2020 at the age of 82, and her last film performance was as the character Miss Collins in director Edgar Wright’s psychological thriller Last Night in Soho, which is set to reach theatres on October 29th. In the clip from Last Night in Soho that’s embedded above, we get to watch Diana Rigg share a scene with the film’s lead Thomasin McKenzie – well, basically. Rigg is either off screen or her features are obscured for most of the clip, but that’s her walking around with McKenzie and delivering the lines of Miss Collins.

Inspiration by the likes of Don’t Look Now and Repulsion, Last Night in Soho stars McKenzie and Anya Taylor-Joy as characters named Eloise and Sandie. The film centers on

a young girl, passionate in fashion design, who is mysteriously able to enter the 1960s where she encounters her idol, a dazzling wannabe singer. But 1960s London is not what it appears, and time seems to fall apart with shady consequences…

Much of the story takes place in

the London of the Swinging Sixties; a time period with which Eloise is obsessed and, through a mysterious connection with Sandie, gets to experience.

McKenzie, Taylor-Joy, and Rigg are joined in the cast by Michael Ajao, Synnøve Karlsen, Matt Smith, Terence Stamp, Rita Tushingham, and Margaret Nolan. Sadly, Nolan also passed away in 2020, so Last Night in Soho marks her last film appearance as well.

Wright wrote the screenplay with Krysty Wilson-Cairns and produced the film with Nira Park and Working Title’s Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner.

While we wait for his film to come out, Wright has provided a list of movies that he recommends you check out on the Peacock streaming service this Halloween season.
