Laurence Fishburne boards Passengers with Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt

Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt will star in Sony's sci-fi romance flick PASSENGERS, in which they'll play the only two conscious passengers on a cryogenic sleeper ship heading to a new colony; Michael Sheen is also on board as a robot who travels alongside the romantic twosome and now THR reports that another actor has joined the not-so-solitary colony ship with the news that Laurence Fishburne (Hannibal) has signed on to PASSENGERS in an unspecified role.

Here's what PASSENGERS is all about:

PASSENGERS follows a man (Chris Pratt) who finds himself woken ninety years early from cryogenic sleep on board a colony ship partway through its decades long journey through space. Faced with the prospect of spending decades alone he decides to wake up another passenger (Jennifer Lawrence) which sparks a unique romance between the two.

With Laurence Fishburne picking up new projects and Hugh Dancy moving on to a new show, I guess our hope for a Hannibal revival is becoming exceedingly thin. Sigh, get over it Kevin. PASSENGERS will be directed by Morten Tyldum (THE IMITATION GAME) from a script by Jon Spaihts and should begin shooting this September for a December 21, 2016 release. Laurence Fishburne will next be seen reprising his role of Perry White in BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE on March 26, 2016.
