It’s been a good six weeks since we’ve had an update on Peter Jackson’s genre melding heart breaker THE LOVELY BONES. So we’re back, and it seems we’ve got a nifty poster and a few more pics from the film to leer at before the BONES roll into theaters on January 15, 2010.

The production turmoil on the flick has been well documented, with lengthy release push-backs and last minute casting changes and whatnot. But judging by the new looks at the movie, it promises to be nothing short of Pete Jackson magic.

Adapted from the Alice Sebold bestseller by long-time Jackson scribe-mate Fran Walsh (DEAD ALIVE, KING KONG), THE LOVELY BONES is the story of a 14-year-old girl from suburban Pennsylvania who is murdered by her neighbor. She tells the story from Heaven, showing the lives of the people around her and how they have changed all while attempting to get someone to find her lost body.

If you’re fuzzy on the principals involved, remember that Saoirse Ronin, Susan Sarandon, Rachel Weisz, Mark Wahlberg, Stanley Tucci, Michael Imperioli, Jake Abel, Thomas McCarthy and Amanda Michalka all play a part.

I’m not sure about the pic directly below, but the one atop the page and the poster at the very bottom look pretty crazy.
