In a blurb over at Deadline about young actors nabbing roles, the site mentions that Scott Stewart, the former visual effects wiz who has since moved on to directing, will helm the fantasy-horror flick THE MORTAL INSTRUMENTS. (Which we last told you about HERE.) The film will be Stewart’s third directorial effort after this year’s stinker LEGION and the upcoming PRIEST, starring Paul Bettany.

INSTRUMENTS is (yet another) massively successful series of young adult novels; it kicked off with CITY OF BONES in 2007. In that installment, we meet fifteen-year-old Clary Fray, who is introduced to the world of the Shadowhunters, a secret cadre of warriors dedicated to driving demons out of our world.

Lily Collins (pictured below), whom Stewart directed in PRIEST, will star as Clary. No other cast has been announced yet, now has a start date. We’ll keep you in the loop when word trickles in.
