Liam Neeson to answer when A Monster Calls for director Juan Antonio Bayona

Back in March we learned that THE ORPHANAGE director Juan Antonio Bayona was set to helm the big-screen adaptation of Patrick Ness' A MONSTER CALLS, which is being produced by Belen Atienza (THE IMPOSSIBLE, PAN'S LABYRINTH, THE ORPHANAGE) and has already been slated for a fall 2016 release. Late last month we learned that Felicity Jones had signed on to star in the film and that the producers were seeking to sign Liam Neeson in the role of the titular creature. Now Screen Daily is reporting that it's a done deal and that Neeson has joined the cast of A MONSTER CALLS.

Based on the award-winning children’s fantasy novel by Patrick Ness, A MONSTER CALLS goes like this:

The film tells the tale of a young boy who attempts to deal with his mother’s illness and the bullying of classmates by escaping into a fantastical world of monsters and fairy tales that deal with courage, loss and faith.

A MONSTER CALLS will be distributed by Focus Features domestically, Universal Pictures International for its theatrical and home entertainment release in Spain and Lionsgate International throughout the rest of the world.
