Ke Huy Quan is living his best life after last night’s Golden Globe win for Best Supporting Actor in a motion picture. Quan assumed his acting days were long behind him after his phone stopped ringing decades ago. Now he’s experiencing a Quanissance, with multiple projects lined up for the future. In addition to playing Freddy Wong in Destin Daniel Cretton’s American Born Chinese, he’s also starring in Marvel‘s Loki Season 2 alongside Tom Hiddleston, Owen Wilson, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Eugene Cordero, Sophia Di Martino, and Wunmi Mosaku. We love to see it.
Speaking with Josh Horowitz on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Quan shared a story about Hiddleston gushing over his role in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. Hiddleston is clearly a big fan of Quan’s work in Spielberg’s film and could not keep his inner fanboy from bursting forth to shower the Short Round actor with compliments.
“There was one particular day of shooting, and he [Hiddleston] found something on set, and he said… he saw it, and he said, “Oh my gosh, I cannot believe I’m working with Short Round from Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom,” Quan explained. “He was so cute and so kind, and I was so excited, and I said, ‘Oh my god, did anybody get that on tape? Please tell me somebody got that on tape!'”
“He was incredible,” Quan added. “We laughed so hard and… I didn’t want that shoot to end. So hopefully, we will go back for some more… reshoots. I don’t know when, but I can’t wait to see all of them again.”
Justin Benson and Aaron Moorehead will direct Loki Season 2. Hiddleston and Michael Waldron, who wrote and served as showrunner of Season 1, will exec produce with Eric Martin writing all six episodes of the new season.
While the plot for Loki Season 2 is unknown, I think it’s safe to assume the story will continue Loki’s battle against the TVA (Time Variance Authority) and explore the repercussions of killing Kang (Jonathan Majors) in the show’s Season 1 finale. Before his death at the hands of Sylvie, Kang warned Loki and Sylvie that killing him would destroy the multiversal timeline and summon another less-desired version of himself from another part of the Multiverse. The first season ends with Loki sharing the unfortunate news with Mobius, who doesn’t remember the God of Lies or pay his warning any mind in the new reality. It’s a mess, and Loki is left to pick up the pieces.
