More Lord of the Rings projects are due out with the recent announcement of new movies at New Line Cinema with Peter Jackson’s involvement. The head of Amazon Studios, Jennifer Salke, isn’t fazed and feels like there’s enough room for all content of the coveted property. The upcoming second season of The Rings of Power series has now added Ciaran Hinds to the cast, along with Rory Kinnear and Tanya Moodie, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Hinds is no stranger to epic fantasy series, having been in Game of Thrones. Hinds also has an accomplished career on the big screen with credits that include Munich, There Will Be BloodBelfast, and Justice League. Rory Kinnear made notable appearances in the James Bond films, Skyfall and Spectre. And Tanya Moodie is known for her roles in Motherland and Sherlock. The second season is currently in production in the U.K.

The nature of their roles has not yet been revealed. However, they are planned to be recurring characters, in at least this season. These additions follow the recasting of villain Adar, with Sam Hazeldine replacing the season one actor Joseph Mawle in the role. It was also previously announced that season two will be adding Oliver Alvin-Wilson, Stuart Bowman, Gavi Singh Chera, William Chubb, Kevin Eldon, Will Keen, Selina Lo, Calam Lynch, Gabriel Akuwudike, Yasen ‘Zates’ Atour, Ben Daniels, Amelia Kenworthy, Nia Towle, and Nicholas Woodeson.

Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power debuted last spring to a massive amount of viewership. It had easily become Prime Video’s highest-rated series as it garnered over 24 billion minutes streamed. On the red carpet for Creed III, Jennifer Salke of Amazon Studios stated, “We love our original series. We’re extremely proud of it and invested long-term. So, we definitely think there’s enough fan love to sustain ours for a long time.”

Meanwhile, on the film end, Peter Jackson wanted to put fans at ease by letting them know he is very much a part of these new movies as they are being developed. “Warner Brothers and Embracer have kept us in the loop every step of the way… we look forward to speaking with them further to hear their vision for the franchise moving forward.”
