Love and Monsters Blu-ray, 4K UHD release set for January 2021

Director Michael Matthews' post-apocalyptic creature feature Love and Monsters (watch it HERE) got screwed out of a proper theatrical release due to the pandemic. Originally scheduled to reach theatres on March 6th, it was pushed back to April 17th because that seemed like a nice spot for it to have some time in the spotlight before the summer blockbusters were supposed to come out. But theatres weren't open in April, and Paramount decided to send the movie to Premium Video-On-Demand in October. If you didn't catch the movie on PVOD, or if you did watch it and want to snag a physical copy, Paramount Home Entertainment has now announced that Love and Monsters is coming to 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD on January 5th. Written by Brian Duffield and Matthew Robinson, Love and Monsters has the following synopsis:

Seven years after the Monsterpocalypse, Joel Dawson (Dylan O'Brien), along with the rest of humanity, has been living underground ever since giant creatures took control of the land. After reconnecting over radio with his high school girlfriend Aimee (Jessica Henwick), who is now 80 miles away at a coastal colony, Joel begins to fall for her again. As Joel realizes that there's nothing left for him underground, he decides against all logic to venture out to Aimee, despite all the dangerous monsters that stand in his way.

O'Brien and Henwick are joined in the cast by Michael Rooker and Ariana Greenblatt, who play a pair of survivors Joel crosses paths with during his journey across the monster-filled wasteland.

I had a lot of fun watching Love and Monsters at home; if this were a normal year, it's a movie I would have loved to see in a theatre. It's a lighthearted adventure with a nice sense of humor and elements that felt like they were inspired by the likes of Tremors and Stand by Me. This is definitely one worth checking out, whether on digital or disc.
