Back in November, I passed you some info regarding the latest Luc Besson-produced action-fest, LOCKOUT, which is set to star Guy Pearce and Maggie Grace. At the time, newbie distributor Film District had just boarded the film, and all involved were eying an early, but unspecified, 2012 release date. Well, now they’ve got one!

According to Box Office Mojo, LOCKOUT will hit theaters on FEBRUARY 24, 2012.

Set to be directed by James Mather and Stephen St. Leger, LOCKOUT tells the story of a falsely convicted ex-government agent (Pearce) whose only chance of freedom is to accept a dangerous mission to rescue the president’s daughter (Grace) from rioting prisoners at an outer space maximum security prison.

In my previous article about the movie, someone commented that it sounds like a crazy old-school John Carpenter flick; I’m inclined to agree. Could be seriously absurd fun, so let’s mark our calendars – it’s only a year and change away.
