M. Night Shyamalan’s Old teaser trailer promises a chilling experience

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

Until last night, the only plot description that was available for writer/director M. Night Shyamalan's new thriller Old was "a group of people find a dead body on a beach and slowly realize there is something unnatural happening on that beach". But now the teaser trailer has been released (check it out above), and that – along with a new synopsis – has let us know exactly what sort of "unnatural" events are taking place.

Shyamalan's "chilling, mysterious" film is about

a family on a tropical holiday who discover that the secluded beach where they are relaxing for a few hours is somehow causing them to age rapidly… reducing their entire lives into a single day.

Gael Garcia Bernal, Vicky Krieps, Rufus Sewell, Ken Leung, Nikki Amuka-Bird, Abbey Lee, Aaron Pierre, Alex Wolff, Embeth Davidtz, Eliza Scanlen, Emun Elliott, Kathleen Chalfant, and Thomasin McKenzie star.

Inspired by Pierre Oscar Levy and Frederik Peeters' French graphic novel Sandcastle (pick up a copy HERE), Old is Blinding Edge Pictures production. Shyamalan produced the film with Ashwin Rajan and Marc Bienstock, and Steven Schneider served as executive producer.

Universal is aiming to get Old into theatres on July 23, 2021.
