Current Bruce Wayne love muffin Maggie Gyllenhaal has, along with Paul Bettany, signed on to star in the drama SOUTH SOLITARY. Under veteran TV director Shirley Barrett from her own script, the story centers on a traumatized soldier recovering in Tasmania. The war that left said soldier with a post-traumatic stress disorder is presumably the big bad Iraq War, although that’s likely to be neither confirmed nor denied by the filmmakers nor within the film itself. Of course, that’s just this devastatingly handsome reporter’s personal opinion. It could be any war they’re referring to. It could be the war on drugs. Or Stephen Colbert’s war on bears. Who knows. As mentioned, Gyllenhaal can next be seen getting snuggly with Batman in THE DARK KNIGHT and recently signed on to play Robin Wright Penn’s mother in the drama THE PRIVATE LIVES OF PIPPA LEE.
