Pierce Brosnan has signed on to co-star with Meryl Streep in the upcoming adaptation of the Broadway musical MAMMA MIA. Brosnan will play one of the men suspected of being the father of the a young woman about to be married. The actor said he took the part simply to work with Street and especially sing a duet with her on “S.O.S.”. Producer Judy Craymer says “Pierce brings a certain smooch factor,” which confuses me. Do we want to smooch Pierce? Because he’s so cute and lovable? Universal and producer Tom Hanks are currently prepping the movie for a summer shoot in Greece. Phyllida Lloyd, who directed the original London production of the musical, will direct the film based on a script by Catherine Johnson. Brosnan is still working on a sequel to THE THOMAS CROWN AFFAIR, which would start filming later this year.
