Hard to say if this is exactly AITH material, but we can take a chance on something involving a desperate man and a disappearing family. The film in question is PROTECTION, which is being prepped by 20th Century Fox and director Gary Fleder.

The story centers on a college professor who investigates the disappearance of his wife and daughter and who must confront authorities at the Witness Protection Program to find them.

Mark Bomback (LIVE FREE OR DIE HARD) has been tapped to rewrite the script, which was an original spec from Allan Loeb (WALL STREET 2).

Fleder is a t.v. and movie vet, having directed the films THINGS TO DO IN DENVER WHEN YOU’RE DEAD, KISS THE GIRLS, and RUNAWAY JURY. He most recently worked on the upcoming “Twin Peaks”-esque ABC series “Happy Town”, which is premiering next month (and stars Amy Acker, below).
