Mandalay Pictures to adapt supernatural young adult novel Firelight

Surely we can’t be the only one willing to strike “Dragons” from the AITH lexicon, right? Dragons ain’t horror, they’re fantasy. And unless we’re discussing a number of untouchable hotties, we’re not much traveling the fantasy road ’round here. However…

Variety is reporting that Mandalay Pictures has just acquired big-screen adaptation rights to FIRELIGHT; the first in a trio of young adult novels tinged with the supernatural (ah, see…supernatural makes it at least somewhat AITH worthy!)

The deal was done by producers Peter Gruber and Cathy Schulman in a preemptive move. Maura Kyle-Casella also helped broker the agreement.

From popular scribe Sophie Jordan (aka Sharie Kohler) – FIRELIGHT follows:

Twin teenage sisters, the descendants of dragons who live in secret with their endangered pride. When their mother learns that the pride has a dark plan for one of the girls who possesses the rare talent of fire breathing, she spirits the twins away to live a normal life among humans.

So what do ya think? Straight TWILIGHT descendent or something we should cover tooth and nail here at AITH? You make the call…
