Manifest canceled at NBC after three seasons

Manifest, canceled, NBC

NBC seems to be in the habit of pissing off the hardcore fanbases of their shows. Fresh off canceling Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist after two seasons, the network has decided to not renew their missing plane drama series Manifest for a fourth season. The decision came down Monday night, just hours before the options on the cast were to expire Tuesday and amid a strong showing of Manifest on Netflix where it has been No.1 in the U.S. for the past three days.

The decision to cancel Manifest is going to frustrate the series' fans because this show had a six-season plan which means the show ends without closing out all of the mysteries that have been set up over its three-season run. The show was the highest-rated in the linear ratings of all of NBC's four bubble shows which also include Debris, Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist, & Good Girls. All but Good Girls have been canceled as that series is still awaiting news of its fate. The now series finale of Manifest drew a series low 0.4 in the 18-49 demo and a viewership low of 2.6 million viewers.

WBTV is expected to look for a new home for the show since its story hasn't been completed. Netflix, where Manifest debuted last Thursday, could be a possibility since it's already performing so well there but there have been no formal conversations since the news just broke. #SaveManifest campaigns are already beginning to pop up on social media so fans are clearly not ready for this show to go quietly into the night.

Manifest focuses on Montego Air Flight 828, which landed safely after a turbulent but routine flight. The crew and passengers are relieved to be safe but in the span of those few hours, the world had aged five years and their friends, families, and colleagues, after mourning their loss, had given up hope and moved on. Now, faced with the impossible, they're all given a second chance. But as their new realities become clear, a deeper mystery unfolds, and some of the returned passengers soon realize they might be meant for something greater than they ever thought possible. The series stars Josh Dallas, Jack Messina, Athena Karkanis, Melissa Roxburgh, JR Ramirez, Luna Blaise, Parveen Kaur, and Matt Long.
