Mark Romanek could helm the adaptation of Dan Brown’s The Lost Symbol

JoBloJoBlo

For some reason this is sort of a surprise to me. The guy who did the video for “Closer” by Nine Inch Nails could direct the adaptation of Dan Brown’s THE LOST SYMBOL. Yeah sure, he did NEVER LET ME GO and ONE HOUR PHOTO but I can see him doing projects like that. Not anything that came from a Dan Brown novel.

Ron Howard took himself out of the running for doing another Brown film. Instead he will produce with his Imagine Entertainment partner, Brian Grazer.

Sony Pictures has been interviewing several different helmers for the job. Romanek doesn’t have the job locked just yet, but apparently he will soon be in negotiations. They did almost have him set as the director for THE WOLFMAN but dropped out due to budgetary and creative concerns.

Steven Knight (EASTERN PROMISES) got assistance from Brown when it came to writing the script. No word on when they are planning to start production.
