Director Rupert Wyatt surprised audiences by delivering a very character-driven prequel in RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES, and it’s that kind of characterization that’s really going to lend his newest flick, THE GAMBLER, some serious weight. Speaking of, actor Mark Wahlberg slimmed down to take on the role of Jim Bennett, a literature professor who borrows from everyone and his mother (literally) to feed his gambling addiction, eventually mixing it up with some unruly gangsters. If you enjoy red-band trailers as much as I do, then the following is a real treat.

Enter NSFW Level F*ck You:

Judging by all the fresh scars on Wahlberg’s face throughout the course of the trailer, I’d say his gambling addiction has done more harm than good. It should be fun to see what kind of trouble his character gets into and to see how far he actually pushes it. I’m not a betting man, but if I was, I’d say folks don’t take too kindly to Marky Mark losing their money. Feel it, feel it.

THE GAMBLER his theaters on December 19.
