Mark Wahlberg (thankfully) passing on The Crow reboot

Hooray for good decisions! Maybe it’s that Oscar-buzz surrounding his recent turn in THE FIGHTER, but Mark Wahlberg is being choosy about his next roles starting now.

Speaking to Cinematical, he says that he’s turning down the lead in the CROW reboot:

“We never committed to making the movie,” Wahlberg said in a one-on-one interview in Los Angeles on Saturday. “They talked to me about it and there was a director attached who I was a fan of, and he’s no longer doing it. We just thought about it – ‘is there something cool to be done there?’ But we’re not committed to making the movie.”

The director in question was Stephen Norrington, who had this to say about Wahlberg’s involvement with the project a while back right after he left:

“I will say I think Wahlberg could be cool if they take a gritty blue-collar approach. He’s a truthful actor. I think he could really ground the supernatural stuff.”

I just couldn’t see him in the makeup. And if they were going makeup free? Then it’s not even The Crow! I’m still firmly of the belief that this entire idea is terrible, and I hope anyone and everyone keeps passing on this like it’s Alfonso Cuaron’s GRAVITY. What is UP with that movie anyway?
