Martin Freeman is going to help tell you Ghost Stories

After successful runs in Liverpool, London, Toronto, Moscow, Sydney, Shanghai, and Lima, Peru, the stage play GHOST STORIES is getting a feature adaptation, with the play's writers Andy Nyman and Jeremy Dyson set to co-direct the film.

Nyman will also be starring in the movie as Dr. Phillip Goodman, a role he originated on the stage. Joining him in the cast are Martin Freeman and George MacKay.

The frightening tone of GHOST STORIES has been compared to that of THE WOMAN IN BLACK, and the story that plays out for 80 minutes on the stage centers on 

Phillip Goodman, a professor of psychology and arch-skeptic who has his rationality tested to the hilt when he receives a letter apparently from beyond the grave. His mentor Charles Cameron, the ‘original’ TV parapsychologist went missing fifteen years before, presumed dead, and yet now he writes to Goodman saying that the pair must meet.

Cameron, it seems, is still very much alive. And he needs Goodman to find a rational explanation for three unsolved cases that have shaken Cameron to his core. As Goodman investigates, he meets three haunted people, each with a tale more frightening, uncanny and inexplicable than the last. Gradually, Goodman unearths a hidden truth more terrifying still, that will pull his life apart.

GHOST STORIES is being produced by Robin Gutch of Warp Films and Claire Jones. Altitude Films will be handling the sales rights at the upcoming European Film Market.

Although this sounds like a very promising project, you might want to keep your excitement in check for the time being, as production isn't expected to begin until September.
