As we predicted, Marvel Studios shared a new look at Avengers: Doomsday at D23 this evening, with new footage from the upcoming event film focusing on Robert Downey Jr.’s Victor Von Doom.
The Special Look finds Susan Storm Richards (Vanessa Kirby) warning others about the threat Doom poses to their universe. Sue and other members of the Fantastic Four know Victor better than anyone, and the fear in Sue’s eyes as she describes how the world broke her friend is the kind of Marvel drama we love to see.
Later this evening, Disney‘s annual D23 celebration kicks off with news, announcements, and exciting reveals for the mouse-eared studio’s upcoming slate of anticipated projects! We’ll have boots on the ground at the fan-focused event, with JoBlo’s Mike Conway reporting from the floor. We’re expecting big things out of this year’s show, as Marvel Studios plans to go big or go home while promoting its next event film, Avengers: Doomsday.
To help get fans hyped about the film, set to be released in theaters on December 18 alongside Dune: Part Three, Marvel unveiled a sleek new poster featuring Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom. The artwork depicts the villain before green-tinted stained glass as he contemplates his next move, staring through his iconic mask while imagining the world in his iron grip.
In addition to debuting the new poster, tickets for Avengers: Doomsday are now available for pre-order ahead of the film’s December 18 release. While it’s easy to ignore pre-orders for most films, I recommend jumping on tickets early if you plan to see Marvel’s next blockbuster during its opening weekend. I recently slept on getting tickets to see Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, and didn’t get to see it until last weekend. I tried, but every screening with decent seats was sold out across the four theaters in my area. I don’t want a similar situation when Doomsday opens in cinemas.

Will a new trailer for Avengers: Doomsday drop tonight at D23? If I were a betting man, I would bet that Marvel plans to show more footage from the film in addition to officially announcing more cast members for its upcoming X-Men movie.
