Marvel & Hulu announce 4 new series, includes Howard the Duck animation

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

Waugh! Word has come in that Marvel and Hulu have just upped their deal for exclusive content in a big way. As per the newly-revealed arrangement, Hulu and Marvel are joining forces for four new original adult animated series in addition to a team-up special titled The Offenders.

First up is an animated series featuring Marvel's HOWARD THE DUCK, as shepherded by fanboy extraordinaire Kevin Smith and Dave Willis. The dynamic duo will executive produce the series alongside Marvel TV boss Jeph Loeb. In recent times, Marvel's quacktastic detective has been able to shed the stigma of his dodgy 1986 feature film debut, thanks in-part to the success of his off-the-wall comic book series penned by comics scribe Chip Zdarsky with art by Joe Quinones, among others.

Next on the list is Marvel's Tigra & Dazzler Show, which is set to be executive produced by comedic talk show diva Chelsea Handler. In addition to her job as an EP on the upcoming program, Handler will also write alongside Erica Rivinoja. Like all of the other projects we'll talk about within this article, Loeb will executive produce the show that's being described as a way for Tigra and Dazzler to adjust to life while living in Los Angeles – home of the West Coast Avengers.

As we move on down the line, we find Josh Gordon, Will Speck, Patton Oswalt and Jordan Blum gearing up for Marvel's Hit-Monkey and Marvel's M.O.D.O.K. For Marvel's Hit-Monkey, the central character, a surly Japanese snow monkey, will attempt to topple Tokyo's criminal underworld with the ghost of an American assassin as his companion. As for Marvel's M.O.D.O.K.,the show is expected to follow the Mental/Mobile/Mechanized Organism Designed Only for Killing as he copes with his ego as well as a series of family-related issues.

Finally, all four series will come together for Marvel's The Offenders special.

Marvel and Hulu's plans arrive courtesy of today's TCA presentation, signaling that the money-printing comic book company is going "all in" when it comes to their deal with the popular streaming network. Amidst rumblings at today's show was also talk ot Marvel and Hulu's THE RUNAWAYS being renewed for a third season.
