Marvel’s Phase Three will conclude with Spider-Man: Far From Home

Spider-Man: Far From Home, Marvel Cinematic Universe

In just several days, AVENGERS: ENDGAME will conclude the Infinity Saga, bringing an end to the past decade of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but one thing which it won't be doing is serving as the conclusion to Phase Three of the MCU. It was believed that AVENGERS: ENDGAME would wrap of Phase Three and that SPIDER-MAN: FAR FROM HOME would kick off Phase Four, but according to Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige, that won't be the case.

While speaking at a Shanghai-based fan event for AVENGERS: ENDGAME, Feige stated that SPIDER-MAN: FAR FROM HOME would be "the end of the third phase," adding that this was the first time he'd revealed this publicly. While it may seem strange to end Phase Three with a lighter-toned Spidey flick, this isn't the first time Marvel has done this. After the release of AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTON, ANT-MAN was the film which brought Phase Two to a close before CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR unleashed Phase Three. Little has been officially revealed about what Phase Four will bring, but we do know that the studio has BLACK PANTHER 2, THE ETERNALS, DOCTOR STRANGE, GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 3, SHANG-CHI, and BLACK WIDOW in development. We'll likely have to wait until after the release of SPIDER-MAN: FAR FROM HOME until Marvel lays out their next slate of films.

The official synopsis for SPIDER-MAN: FAR FROM HOME:

Peter Parker returns in Spider-Man: Far From Home, the next chapter of the Spider-Man: Homecoming series! Our friendly neighborhood Super Hero decides to join his best friends Ned, MJ, and the rest of the gang on a European vacation. However, Peter’s plan to leave super heroics behind for a few weeks are quickly scrapped when he begrudgingly agrees to help Nick Fury uncover the mystery of several elemental creature attacks, creating havoc across the continent!

SPIDER-MAN: FAR FROM HOME will hit theaters on July 2, 2019, but AVENGERS: ENDGAME will debut on April 26th.
