Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein: The Best Movie You Never Saw

In the wake of Francis Ford Coppola's triumphant BRAM STOKER'S DRACULA, Sony Pictures were keen to do more updates of classic monsters. Coppola himself prepped MARY SHELLEY'S FRANKENSTEIN as a quasi follow-up to DRACULA, with it adopting the same gothic romance vibe. Eventually, he handed the reins to Kenneth Branagh, who was able to entice Robert De Niro to co-star as "The Creature", but the film was greeted with poor reviews and bad box-office. Is it an underrated gem?
