Matt Damon takes the fight to space in new trailer for Neil Blomkamp’s Elysium

JoBloJoBlo

The sci-fi action romp ELYSIUM from director Neil Blomkamp is gearing up to be one of the most-anticipated of the summer and if this new trailer is any indication, I think there’s good reason for it. Anyone who enjoyed Blomkamp’s DISTRICT 9 is sure to recognize his gritty, realistic style, which seems to be amped up quite a bit for his sophomore effort. Starring Matt Damon, Jodie Foster, Sharlto Copley, and Alice Braga, the film takes a stroll down the class warfare sci-fi trope, while still managing to sneak in some humor and epic-looking action. All in all, this looks to be one of the more exciting and original films in the pipeline and I’m stoked to take the journey.

Take off!:

Here’s the synopsis:

Set in the year 2159, where the very wealthy live on a man-made space station while the rest of the population resides on a ruined Earth, a man takes on a mission that could bring equality to the polarized worlds.

ELYSIUM hits theaters on August 9, 2013.
