I think it’s safe to say that ELYSIUM became one of the most anticipated projects in the works once we heard Neill Blomkamp and Sharlto Copley were teaming up again after their incredible DISTRICT 9. It’s only been a few days since that news broke, and it’s nice to see that it’s already moving forward with intensity.

According to Deadline, Matt Damon is in talks to join ELYSIUM, a big coup for the project if it works out. The film is going to gather its cast before going out to distributors, and having Damon aboard – if he does indeed hop on – will help the movie’s cause immensely. Not that it should need much help after DISTRICT 9 proved what Blompkamp could do with a medium-sized budget and a lot of imagination.

Unfortunately there’s still nothing in the way of plot info, not even a morsel. I know we should savor it everytime we don’t have every single detail regarding an upcoming film, but this is one I’m dying to learn more about. Since it’s obviously got traction, perhaps more will be revealed in the coming weeks.
