Matthew McConaughey says he’s down for a comic book movie if it turns him on

Although it's looking like Benedict Cumberbatch will be playing Doctor Strange in the upcoming Scott Derrickson film, at one point Matthew McConaughey was rumored to be up for the role. But is the actor even interested in starring in a comic book movie?

IGN recently asked McConaughey that question, and he says he would do one, but only if it had the right script and character.

It's not an area that I'm saying I wouldn't like to go. I don't know, it would have to be a script and a character that I found interesting and one where I can have a personal experience. I'm not thinking about a genre like, 'Oh, I really want to do this or I wouldn't want to do that'. If something finds me at the right time, turns me on, and if I can grab a hold of it, see it from the inside and get a feeling that, 'Oh, I've got a way I can do this that can be original.'

Who knows if Marvel was actually eyeing Matthew McConaughey for Doctor Strange, but I'm sure Marvel and DC would both love to land the actor for a role in one of their movies. I'm not sure which comic book character McConaughey could play on the big screen, however I wouldn't mind if he ended up playing Jesse Custer in Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg's Preacher television series. Which comic book character would you like to see Matthew McConaughey play in a movie?

Matthew McConaughey can be seen next in INTERSTELLAR, and if you haven't already, you can check out Chris Bumbray's review of the Christopher Nolan film here.

I don't think Matthew McConaughey is a "fake, soft-spoken douche bag," but this is still pretty funny.
