McG & Michael Bay tap Disney scribe Evan Spiliotopoulos to pen Ouija script

I’m a fan of WITCHBOARD and all, but when major studios continue to adapt board-games to the big screen, we’re all in trouble…

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Disney scribe Evan Spiliotopoulos has been hired to “adapt” the OUIJA script for McG to direct. As you know, Michael Bay’s Platinum Dunes is producing.

Spiliotopoulos, the author of such fine Disney outings as THE JUNGLE BOOK 2, POOH’S HEFFALUMP HALLOWEEN MOVIE, BATTLE FOR TERRA, THE BLUE ELEPHANT and a few others, used to write live-action films for the Baldwin brothers. He not only wrote BARE WITNESS (Daniel Baldwin) and ART HEIST (Billy Baldwin), he got his first TV movie credit for the 1998 LEGION, which has the distinction of pulling together stars Corey Feldman, Rick Springfield and Troy Donahue. And with that, I’m speechless.

As for OUIJA, TRON: LEGACY’S Edward Kitsis and Andrew Horowitz did a draft, but have since moved on to an ABC pilot they’re working out called “Once Upon A Time.” And so the door opens for Spiliotopoulos.

Based on the classic Hasbro board game about conjuring up spirits of the dead, OUIJA is described as a four-quadrant supernatural adventure centering around a family, with influences from The Mummy and Indiana Jones.

Stiliotopoulos wrote THE HERO OF COLOR CITY, which will feature the voice of Christina Ricci!
