What the hell is this?!?

A pretty odd if not comical new ad for Daniel Stamm’s THE LAST EXORCISM has just launched into the atmosphere, one that introduces us to former titular lead character Reverend Cotton Marcus. Not sure about you, but nothing says ghastly demonic possession to me like a third rate Mr. Rogers in a hounds-tooth blazer. Naw’mean?

Converting theatergoers August 27th, THE LAST EXORCISM gears up:

When he arrives on the rural Louisiana farm of Louis Sweetzer, the Reverend Cotton Marcus expects to perform just another routine “exorcism” on a disturbed religious fanatic. An earnest fundamentalist, Sweetzer has contacted the charismatic preacher as a last resort, certain his teenage daughter Nell is possessed by a demon who must be exorcized before their terrifying ordeal ends in unimaginable tragedy.

Buckling under the weight of his conscience after years of parting desperate believers with their money, Cotton and his crew plan to film a concessionary documentary of this, his last exorcism. But upon arriving at the already blood-drenched family farm, it is soon clear that nothing could have prepared him for the true evil he encounters there. Now, too late to turn back, Reverend Marcus’ own beliefs are shaken to the core when he and his crew must find a way to save Nell – and themselves – before it is too late.

Ashley Bell, Patrick Fabian, Iris Bahr, Jamie Alyson Caudle, Shanna Forrestall, Louis Herthum, Allen Boudreaux, Tony Bentley, Caleb Landry Jones, Denise Lee, Becky Fly and Logan Craig Reid all take part in the film. Huck Botko and Andrew Gurland wrote the screenplay.

Now, what the hell do you make of this new ad? Cool? Confusing? Downright ridiculous?

For more ecumenical whimsy, peep the newly launched ChurchofStMarks.com

Above is what I pray to!
