Michael Cera will be the Robin to Will Arnett’s Batman in Lego Batman Movie

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Will Arnett proved to the be the perfect man to voice Lego Batman in THE LEGO MOVIE, and given that the upcoming LEGO BATMAN MOVIE will acknowledge every iteration of the character, it makes sense that Robin would play a part. It looks like Arnett will be keeping it in the (Arrested Development) family, as Michael Cera has just signed on to play Batman's sidekick, Robin. Phil Lord and Christopher Miller will be producing this effort with LEGO MOVIE animation supervisor Chris McKay directing from a script by Seth Grahame-Smith (PRIDE & PREJUDICE & ZOMBIES, DARK SHADOWS).

Given Arnett's character's relationship with Cera's on Arrested Development, teaming these two up for THE LEGO BATMAN MOVIE makes all too much sense. There's so many characters to poke fun of in the Bat-universe, so they should have quite an ensemble of actors voicing the many heroes and villains of Gotham. And if they don't tap at least some of the folks who played the Caped Crusader in the past, that's a hell of a missed opportunity!

THE LEGO BATMAN MOVIE hits theaters on February 10, 2017, with THE LEGO MOVIE SEQUEL following on May 18, 2018.
