The new HALLOWEEN sequel, which is coming to us from Blumhouse Productions and director David Gordon Green, will be picking up forty years after the events of John Carpenter's original HALLOWEEN, which means that the character of Michael Myers will be sixty-one years old in the film. Special effects artist Christopher Nelson recently revealed that Myers will be sporting the same mask in the new film that he wore during his 1978 killing spree, meaning his mask will have a wrinkled, broken down look to it – and that mask is revealed in the official poster art that Blumhouse has just shared online.
Six months out from the film's release, Blumhouse has given us our first look at the Michael Myers of 2018, and the way the iconic slasher looks on this poster certainly doesn't shy away from the fact that Myers is now closing in on senior citizen status. Head hung low, wearing his wrinkled mask, Michael Myers is looking like a weary grandfather on this poster.
The poster also appears to answer the question of "What is this movie going to be called?" Apparently it is, like the film it's a sequel to, simply called HALLOWEEN.
Written by Green with Danny McBride and Jeff Fradley, the new HALLOWEEN sees Jamie Lee Curtis returning to the role of
Laurie Strode, who comes to her final confrontation with Michael Myers, the masked figure who has haunted her since she narrowly escaped his killing spree on Halloween night four decades ago.
Michael Myers is being played by stuntman James Jude Courtney, and original Myers performer Nick Castle also put the mask on for some scenes. Also in the cast are Judy Greer as Laurie's daughter Karen; Andi Matichak as Karen's daughter Allyson; Miles Robbins, Virginia Gardner, Dylan Arnold, and Drew Scheid as Allyson's Haddonfield High classmates; Will Patton and Rob Niter as police officers; Rhian Rees as a character named Dana; and Diva Tyler as a caretaker.
John Carpenter served as executive producer on the film and is composing the score.
Michael Myers will stalk the screen in his wrinkled mask when HALLOWEEN reaches theatres on October 19th.
