Michelle MacLaren signs on to direct and develop Wonder Woman

Earlier this month we told you that Michelle MacLaren was the frontrunner for the upcoming WONDER WOMAN movie. Today THR reports that MacLaren has signed to direct the film and will work with a writer (or writers), who are as yet unnamed, to develop the script for the 2017 release! Prior to her signing on, WB also met with other directors including Jennifer Kent (THE BABADOOK) and Lesli Linka Glatter (Homeland, Twin Peaks).

We are more than happy to see two-time Emmy winner Michelle MacLaren grab this one; best known for directing great episodes of Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones, The Walking Dead, and The Leftovers, this will be her first feature film. With such a strong TV record behind her, this could certainly mean great things for the potential blockbuster.

I trust fans of Wonder Woman will be relieved to see their hero in the hands of someone capable of incredible work. When we first announced that WB was looking for a female director to helm the project, MacLaren was my first and only suggestion. Knowing that she’s going to be a big part of developing the film as well is a testament to her ability as a director.

The report adds that Zack Snyder, Deborah Snyder, and Charles Roven will produce the film. WONDER WOMAN starring Gal Gadot is set for release on June 23, 2017.

What do you think of the choice?
