Jack Messitt, director of the upcoming horror flick MIDNIGHT MOVIE (which we last told you about HERE) shot us an email over the weekend, letting us know the little flick has finally been picked up for distribution, and just landed a DVD release date!

Briefly, MIDNIGHT MOVIE revolves around a midnight showing of an early 1970’s horror movie that turns to chaos when the Killer from the movie comes out of the film to attack those in the theater.

Cool, huh? Like a horror version of LAST ACTION HERO, only better! And on December 9th, you’ll be able to pick a copy of it up on DVD, courtesy of Peach Arch Entertainment! There’s something about a horror flick released on DVD in December that brings a smile to my face… probably that whole ‘horror for the holidays’ thing.

Anyway, if December 9th feels like too far away for you, Messitt also told us about two upcoming screenings that you can attend to check it out in theaters this September, a full three months before it’s release on DVD! The following details are for those screenings (yup, there are two of em’!):

Sept. 2, 2008
Ball State University
Prius Hall
7pm Screening followed by Director/Producer Q&A

Sept 5, 2008
Indiana University – Underground Cinema Series
Radio/TV 251
7pm Screening followed by Director/Producer Q&A

Is it me, or does it feel like a flick titled MIDNIGHT MOVIE should only be shown at midnight??? This 7pm bullshit feels like… bullshit, really. It should really be shown midnight and that’s it… but maybe that’s just me.

For more info on MIDNIGHT MOVIE, click HERE, and get ready for your very own midnight screening when it hits DVD December 9th.
